David Leland Hyde, Philip Hyde's son was present for this landscape photograph. Ardis, David and Philip Hyde spent June, July, and August 1971 in Alaska in their Avion Camper with a GMC Utility Body Pickup Truck. David had his sixth birthday in Alaska. Like much of the trip, it rained the day of this landscape photograph and the mist billowed down to the lake level as Philip Hyde and son arrived on the scene. Within a few minutes the rain and clouds lifted just enough for Philip Hyde to set up his 4X5 Baby Deardorf View Camera and make this landscape photograph. After the photograph, it began to rain heavily and the two ran back to the warm camper where the clothesline was already full of soaked raingear.
