Founder's Grove, Maple in Fall color, Founder’s Tree with yellow lichen, the World’s tallest tree, Humboldt Redwoods State Park, California, 1977. Dye Transfer Printed and Exhibited. First Published in "State Parks of California: 1864 to the Present" by Joseph H. Engbeck, Jr with photographs by Philip Hyde. Founder’s Grove was dedicated to the founders of the Save The Redwoods League that has protected over 170,000 acres of redwoods in 35 state parks. The Save The Redwoods League purchased the first grove of redwoods in 1921 in Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
