Late Afternoon Light and Shadows on Sandstone Boulders, Eroded Strata, Waterpocket Fold, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah, 1967. A Similar Framing of This Photograph in Color Published in Slickrock: The Canyon Country of Southeast Utah" by Environmentalist Edward Abbey and Landscape Photographer Philip Hyde. Waterpocket Fold was one of Philip Hyde's favorite landscapes for nature photography. He liked Capitol Reef National Park because it was less traveled than some of the other national parks. He could easily find remote wilderness, especially in the early days when the backcountry roads were still open to exploration.
