Desert Varnish Wall, Junipers, South Moody Canyon, Escalante Wilderness, now Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah, 1968, made famous by "Slickrock: The Canyon Country of Southeast Utah" by Edward Abbey and Philip Hyde, 1971, in the Sierra Club Exhibit Format Series. "Slickrock" helped expand Canyonlands National Park and the Escalante Wilderness. A proposal Before World War II to protect all of Glen Canyon, The Escalante Wilderness, Canyonlands and surrounding natural areas as Escalante National Park could have saved Glen Canyon, but after Pearl Harbor, Congressional attention went to preparations for war. Bill Clintor finally designated the national monument in 1996. Writer and outdoor photographer Stephen Trimble composed a similar image and captioned his photograph, "Hyde's Wall." The name stuck and the place carries the name “Hyde's Wall” in some guidebooks. Dye Transfer Original Prints In Several Permanent Collections.
